"COLD COMFORT LANDING"
From an original by Edward Ash
P/o John Chatterton lands Lancaster KM-Y of 44 (Rhodesia) Sqn at RAF Dunholme Lodge Lincolnshire during the winter 1943/1944. Landing a damaged aircraft after heavy snowfall always made for a perilous landing.
John Chattertons' relationship with the Lancaster lived on well beyond the war; his son Mike flew the BBMF Lancaster PA474 'City of Lincoln'.
